We often get questions at the Council about insurance, specifically if practitioners should carry liability insurance. Practitioners can protect their business by incorporating, such as forming a Limited Liability Company, or LLC. This protects the business from civil liability, but to fully protect yourself as a practitioner, you’ll need separate insurance.
These policies are generally less than $300 per year, and provide several million dollars in coverage. While there are several companies in America that offer some type of liability insurance that is applicable to holistic practice, there is only one that we recommend: Alternative Balance.
We like Alternative Balance for a few reasons, but for transparency sake, they provide us with a small donation for every new policy signed up through our affiliate link.
Aside from donations, which helps our advocacy efforts, the company was started by a holistic practitioner who saw a need in our community. That company is now providing insurance coverage and business tools to tens of thousands of professionals all over America, and the Council is proud to endorse and support their good work.
